Brief Overview
The project "Provision of Rapid, Flexible Assistance to Meet the Urgent Needs of the Population Affected by Conflict in Ukraine and Neighboring Countries" was implemented by the NGO "This is Our Business!" with the support of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). Its aim was to provide emergency humanitarian support to the residents of Nikopol, whose homes were damaged by shelling, within 72 hours after such events.
The activities included preparatory measures and the distribution of hygiene kits, family kits, and dish sets to 300 households, covering 599 beneficiaries, a significant portion of whom were elderly people. The distribution process was clearly coordinated: first, a meeting was held with local authorities to agree on actions, then lists of the affected were obtained, based on which the kits were distributed. A coordinator from local authorities worked at the distribution site, and during air raid alerts, the distribution was halted, moving to a safe place, which complicated the process several times.
Coordination with DRC was conducted through email correspondence and phone calls. Needs were identified through surveys of beneficiaries and consultations with local authorities, and monitoring was carried out through surveys, meetings, and analysis of feedback.
Project Achievements
The project has been successfully completed. Sets have been distributed to 300 households (599 beneficiaries), providing basic hygiene and household needs after the shelling. Short-term effect: rapid assistance in crisis conditions within 72 hours. Long-term effect: improvement of the lives of local residents, especially the elderly, and support for their resilience. Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the quality of the sets, as evidenced by personal feedback and QR code stickers for feedback on the boxes.
